Helen "Betty" Lee - McDonough, GA -Helen "Betty" Lee, 82, of McDonough, GA died Tuesday, November 14, 2006. She was born in Augusta, GA to the late William Frank and Helen Elizabeth Murphy Matheny. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lee. She lived in Savannah, GA for most of her adult life and received an award working with the Catholic youth in Savannah. Mrs. Lee married her husband during WWII. She retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after 30 years of civil service where she received many personal awards. She was a member of St. James The Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough, past president of the American Legion Auxilliary Chatham Post 36, a member of the McDonough Womans Club and enjoyed playing bridge. But most of all she loved her family and her church. Mrs. Lee is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Richard E. Lee; daughter, Helen Lee Ray, Stockbridge, GA; granddaughter, Patricia (Michael) Austin, McDonough, GA; grandsons, Richard (Carla) Ray, Eglin AFB, FL , Michael (Kerry) Ray, Macon, GA; great- grandchildren, Finian Ray, Ciana Ray, Cecelia Ray; sister, Francis Hamilton, Augusta, GA; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 16, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., with a wake service at 7:00 p.m., at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, November 17, 2006 at St. James The Apostle Catholic Church with Father John Murphy and Monsignor Henry Gracz officiating.
