MACHIAS - Helen L. Jordan, 80, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at a Machias health care facility. She was born Nov. 21, 1928, at Columbia Falls, the daughter of the late William and Elsie (Varney) Schencks. Mrs. Jordan was educated and graduated from Jonesboro High School. After graduation, she was employed at Marshall Manor Boarding Home, Machias, for many years as a cook. She shared 22 years of marriage with Alfred Jordan, who died May 19, 1981. Family members include her son, Ronald Schencks and wife, Elaine, of Georgia; two daughters, Nora Jordan of East Machias and Grace Look of Machias; stepchildren, Richard Jordan and wife, Jane, of Connecticut, Charlene Cirone and husband, Craig, of Addison, Donald Jordan and wife, Caroline, of Machias, and Vickie Look and husband, Douglas, of Machiasport; grandchildren, Kenny, Pam, Justine, Christina, Austin, Breanna and Ryan; stepgrandchildren, Lynn, Larry, Ricky, Linda, Lisa, Violet, Craig Jr., Dean, Belinda, Danny, Alfred, Donnie, Jeffrey, Timmy, Barry, Steven and Heidi; many great-grandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; siblings, Gertrude Carver of Georgia, Vertie Blackburn of Georgia, Edward Schencks of Jonesboro, William Schencks of Machias, Jimmy Schencks of Jonesboro and Betty Redimarker of Addison; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by siblings, Nora Schencks, Alberta Grant and Fraser Schencks. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 20, at Longfellow Cemetery, Machias, with Pastor Betty Duzen officiating. There will be a time of fellowship immediately after the service at 402 Kennebec Road, Machias.
