Helen Jean McGee, Dec 11, 1917 - June 1, 2008, born in Youngstown, Ohio to Dr. Karl and Wanda Allison. She graduated from Kent State University, later becoming a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Society. She joined the Marine Corps February 1943 and was a member of the first class of women officers. Jean was a charter member of the memorial for Women in Military Service for America at Arlington National Cemetery. She lived in St. Augustine for 35 years and was a teacher at Orange Street School, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church and Flagler Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband Major Charlie H. McGee, USMC (ret.) to whom she was married for 62 years, and children Nancy A. Capo and Charlie III; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
