Helen Jean (Bolton) Mitchell, 73, passed peacefully from this life on Nov. 9, 2007, after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, in the chapel, with burial in Franklin Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Brother Michael South and Brother Bill Cavender.Her zest for life was evident by her many endeavors. She enjoyed cross-country tours, bowling, camping, needlework, but most of all she cherished being with her family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her.She was preceded in death by a son, Freddie Duran; parents, Percy Howard and Esther Bolton; foster parents, Riley and Dessie Taylor; brothers, Herschel and Onice Bolton; sisters, Emma Lois Ridley and Katherine Martie.She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Freddie G. Mitchell; daughters, Durinda (Philip) Zills, Denita (Alan) Lester, Darla (Terry) Sherron; brothers, Owen Bolton, from Lincoln, Neb., Thomas Taylor and Faris Taylor, both of Russellville; sisters, Alta Mae Grissom and Venus Hester, both of Russellville, and Ollie Mitchell, of Texas; her beloved grandchildren, Amanda and Adam Zills, Justin and Clint Lester, Alex, Jon, Jenny and Katie Sherron; special lifelong friends, Emma Jean Andrews and Bobbie Jean Bevis.She was a member of Highland Park Church of Christ.Pallbearers will be Neal Taylor, Scottie Mitchell, Doug Garrison, Tom Bolton, Darrell Reid and Terry Bolton.Colbert Memorial Chapel of the Shoals is directing.
