Helen Harris, 74, Port Charlotte, died March 13, 2004. She was born Nov. 29, 1929, in New York City and came to Port Charlotte in 1989. She retired from the U.S. Post Office in New York City. She was a member of American Legion 110 in Port Charlotte. She was an Army veteran, retiring as a staff sergeant after 14 years. Survivors include nieces Cathy Way of Port Charlotte and Geraldine Casseles of Stoney Point, N.Y.; nephews Gerald Palmieri Jr. of Port Charlotte and Thomas Palmieri of Englewood; a brother-in-law, Gerald Palmieri Sr. of Port Charlotte; and nine great-nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Kays-Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Home is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
