Belanger (nee Smith) Helen G., of Crystal. Well, Helen's gone and we have all lost a true and loyal friend. Heart failure took her during the early morning hours of July 1st at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Always a competitor, her battle against death was no different. Born on a farm near Huron, SD, she never lost her love for the people and lifestyle of that era. She was justly proud of her service in the WAVES during WW II, receiving commendations twice for her efforts in cryptonology. We weren't perfect, but we "stood" each other for over 54 years, and if time would have allowed, we'd have made 54 more. We had lots of laughter and that's a pretty good binder during good times and bad. Whatever you do - love your mate with all you've got (without being sickening about it). No matter how long you have, there's never enough time to spend with your loved one. I'm just finding that out now. She leaves me, Gordon and Bill, her loving son, along with Rhonda, our wonderful daughter-in-law, and grand kids, Erin and Jack. Also many of the most loving and loyal nieces and nephews. Stop by and say good bye to Helen from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 39th & W. Broadway. A 10 AM Mass will be said Friday at St. Raphael Church, 7301 Bass Lake Road, Crystal. Luncheon will follow at the church. Burial at Ft. Snelling. Good bye for now Honey, I'll be along soon. By the way, you were the very best thing that ever happened to me. Thanks.
