Helen E. Mihalik (nee Mitchell), 87, of Livingston, N.J., and Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011. Mrs. Mihalik was born and raised in the Ironbound section of Newark, N.J., to the late Joseph and Helen, and was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, John. A bookkeeper with Industrial Office Supply of Livingston, N.J., for over 40 years before her retirement, Mrs. Mihalik was a longtime active member of the Life Fitness Gym in Point Pleasant Beach. She was the devoted mother of Barbara Sherman and her husband, Elliot, and Marilyn Barrera and her husband, John; loving grandmother of Harlee Schulberg and her husband, Jeffrey, Jaime Sherman, and Marissa and Meredith Barrera; cherished great-grandmother of Dylan; dear sister of Fred and his wife, Dorothy Mitchell, and predeceased by her brother, Joseph Mitchko. Helen was devoted to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The funeral is from Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mount Pleasant Ave., Livingston, N.J., on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at 9 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Philomena's Church, Livingston, N.J., at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. The family will receive their friends on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Livingston First Aid Squad, 62 S.
