Helen E. Lane, 92, Sarasota, died June 12, 2006. She was born Oct. 27, 1913, in Rochester, N.Y., and came to Sarasota 37 years ago from Hyattsville, Md. She graduated from the University of Maryland and was a school teacher and a librarian. She was a Presbyterian. Survivors include her husband of 71 years, retired Army Lt. Col. Charles L.; a daughter, Nancy J. Gartha of LaSalle, Ill.; a sister, Dorothy A. Chicoratich of Burlington, Wash.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. No visitation is planned. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
