MANCHESTER - Helen D. Gould, 73, died July 17, 2011, at Catholic Medical Center, after a long, courageous battle with cystic fibrosis. She was born on June 5, 1938, in Clinton, Mass., the last of 13 children of John and Balwina Duchnowski. She resided in Manchester since 1975. Mrs. Gould began her 30-year career as a court stenographer in Connecticut. Until her retirement, she worked at the United States Federal Court in Concord, under Justice Martin Loughlin. An accomplished gardener, she spent a great deal of time cultivating her magnificent flower gardens. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, motorcycling and flying small aircraft. A fiercely independent woman, she was determined to fight her illness. She was married to George A. Gould for 22 years. He died April 9, 2005. Family members include her sister, Barbara Moribito of Clinton, Mass.; her brother, William Duchnowski and his wife Joyce of Framingham, Mass.; many nieces and nephews. . SERVICES: Following cremation, a funeral service followed by urn burial, along with her husband, will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
