HELEN COLLINS1922-2007Mrs. Helen Cora Litchfield Collins, 84, of Pensacola, daughter of Herbert McKinnon Litchfield and Cora Alaska Grimsley of Bluff Springs, Fl, passed away on Tuesday April 3, 2007. She was born on September 16, 1922 in Atmore, AL.Helen grew up in the Bayou Chico area, graduated from Pensacola High School in 1940, and spent a year in nurse's training before marrying aviator John E. Collins in the Navy Chapel on NAS Pensacola. Later, as the wife of an airline pilot, Helen traveled the world and even lived in Holland for a while. The Collins family moved to Long Island, NY and settled in the Huntington area for 35 years. Helen returned to her roots along the Gulf coast and lived the last 20 years in Pensacola. She enjoyed her pets and gardening especially her cats, her flowers, and her lovely tomatoes.Helen was preceded in death by her parents and two of five sons, Dr. Gordon Paul Collins, and James Aarron Collins. She is survived by sons John Edward III, Robert Patrick and William Brandon; grand-daughter Naomi Price, and great-grandchildren Zoe and Devon Price.Funeral services will be conducted at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Internment will follow at the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Enon, FL.BAYVIEW FISHER-POU FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Monday, April 9, 2007 from 12 noon until service time.
