ALBANY Helen A. Schmeder Harris, 87, died Saturday, August 16, 2003 at her residence. Born in Albany, daughter of the late Henry and Anna Pietz Schmeder, she graduated from Albany High School and attended Albany Teachers College. Mrs. Harris worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for the Catholic Dioceses of Albany, Office of Religious Education. She was a longtime communicant of St. James Church and an active volunteer on many church committees. She was a member of the Grandmothers Club and the Columbiettes Council #173. She was wife of the late R. Edward Harris; mother of Robert Harris of Rensselaer, Mary Ann Killian of Albany, Richard Harris of Delmar, Joan Rondeau of Waterford and the late Lawrence Harris; sister of Freda Tierney and the late Joseph and Henry Schmeder; beloved mother-in-law of Lynn Harris; grandmother of Robert, Jill and Katie Harris, Eric Killian, Edward, Richard and Michael Harris and Lawrence Rondeau; great-grandmother of Alisa Harris and Trevor Killian. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:15 a.m. from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. thence to St. James Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will follow the Mass in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
