HEINE-The Rev. William H., a life long resident of New York and residing in South Setauket, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2004. He had just finished celebrating the Holy Eucharist at All Saints Episcopal Church in Baldwin. Father Heine was ordained at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City in 1956. He was the founding Vicar of St. Jude's in Wantagh and St. Margaret's in Plainview. He always served in the Diocese of Long Island; All Souls in Stony Brook, St. Andrew's in Mastic Beach, Caroline Church in Setauket and St. Cuthbert's in Selden. He served in the US Navy for thirty years and retired as a Naval Reserve Chaplain with the rank of Commander. He served in WWII and Korea. During the Vietnam War, he served at Great Lakes. He retired from the Mount Sinai Middle School and High School having served as teacher and Social Studies facilitator for some 17 years. He was also a Free and Accepted Mason as a member of Potunk Lodge #1071 and Chaplin of Dongan Patent Lodge #1134, the Sojourners, and V.F.W. Centereach, and the Civil Air Patrol. This year, he was named CAP Chaplain of the Year for New York State. He is survived by his wife Florence (nee Elliott); his children William and his wife Patricia, and Nancy Caggiano and her husband Christopher; grandchildren Laura, David, Emily, Lydia Caggiano, Malinda Shadoan and her husband Jesse; great-granddaughter Dana; his sister Edna Coby and nieces and nephews. Reposing at the O.B. Davis Funeral Home, 4839 Nesconset Hwy. (Rte. 347), Port Jefferson Station, LI. Visitation, Tuesday 7-9PM and Wednesday 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Funeral Service, Thursday 11AM at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, Garden City, NY. Interment, Caroline Churchyard Cemetery, Setauket.
