Hazel Walliser Young Lee, 97, of The Orchard, Fayetteville, NY died September 28, 2002 at Crouse Hospital. She was the widow of Carl A. Young in 1963 and Charles A. Lee in 1989. She is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Fine Arts in 1928. She had the leading role in the first movie ever produced at Syracuse University and was designated a Junior Beauty in its yearbook. She was a member of University United Methodist Church and Gertrude Brown Circle. She was a member and former president of the Syracuse Alumnae Chapter of Delta Gamma. She was honored with its national Cable Award for outstanding service to the fraternity and also recognized with a $1,000 scholarship Name Grant given by the alumnae chapter. She was a member of the Corinthian Club, Home Bureau, Syracuse Liederkranz Auxiliary and Opti-Mrs. Club of which she was president; also the Fayetteville Senior Citizens Center, Girl Scouts and Girls Clubs where she taught crafts, and was a former volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She exhibited paintings at the NYS Fair in the Senior Competition and won several blue ribbons. She recently exhibited two of her paintings at the Everson Museum. She is survived by a daughter: Marilyn Sims of Fayetteville, NY; a son, Wally Young of Ormond Beach, Florida; two step sons, Charles A. Lee of Lakewood, Washington and Robert P. Lee of Aurora, Ohio; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Services will be held Noon Tuesday in the University United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
