Hattie Mae Watkins COLUMBIA Hattie Mae Blake Watkins, 90, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 in Columbia, SC. She was born November 13, 1923 in Abbott, Mississippi to the late Katie Kathleen Langford and William A. Eaton. Mrs. Watkins served in the Army from 1943-1944 as part of the Women's Army Corps. She worked in a garment factory while attending cosmetology school on weekends. Upon graduation, she opened a hair salon in her home where she worked until she moved to Arizona. There she worked as beautician until she retired and moved to Columbia to be with her children. Memorial Service will be Sunday, September 7, 2014, at 2 pm at Palmetto Church of Christ, 7000 Nursery Road in Columbia, SC 29212 with Mike Hollis, minister, officiating. Visitation will be at the church following the service. She is survived by her son, Julian D. Blake of Blythewood, SC; her daughters, Carolyn Wignes of Columbia, SC, Georgene Gable of Leesville, SC; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Julian R. Blake; son, Paul Blake; daughter, Linda Marie Miles; five brothers and one sister.
