PETERS, Harold Arthur Harold Arthur Peters entered into Heaven at Edmonton, Alberta on Tuesday, June 26, 2007. Harold passed away after a lengthy illness resulting from multiple strokes and heart attacks. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Mary Peters; his son Barry Peters and his wife Kathryn Goelzer of Olympia, Washington; and his daughter Cheryl Peters of Winnipeg, Manitoba. A public viewing will be held on Monday, July 2 from 7-9 p.m. at Hainstock's Funeral Home, located at 9810-34 Avenue. A small, private family service and reception will be held on Tuesday, July 3 at Hainstock's Funeral Home. After the reception, the interment will follow at the Rosehill Cemetery. Harold Peters was born on February 20, 1933 in the town of Lowe Farm, Manitoba. He grew up in Lowe Farm before leaving at age 23. He married Joyce in Edmonton the following year in 1956, where they lived for the next 50 years, raising a family of two children. During this time Harold started his own successful family business, excavating and trucking. He specialized in digging basements for residential homes. Harold was also a licensed HAM radio operator and enjoyed spending time talking with other operators around the world. Harold Peters retired shortly before his illness set in. Harold had an easygoing nature. If something upset him, it didn't last for long. For example, in 1999, on the way home from vacation with his wife Joyce, their motor home burned to the ground 25 kilometers from home. Instead of lamenting his loss, Harold soon purchased a newer motor home and the couple continued their regular vacations. He never mentioned the old motor home again. At the time of his death, he was in the process of completing a sequel to the book, The Unwanted Child, a biography of his grandfather's life, which he had previously published after having the original manuscript translated from German to English. Harold enjoyed attending church, fellowship with the saints, the teaching of the Word of God, and traditional church hymns. Harold will be remembered for his positive outlook on life and his happy-go-lucky attitude. Joyce Peters especially wishes to thank the doctors and the nurses in Ward 5D4 at the University of Alberta hospital, who provided Harold with excellent health care and encouragement during his lengthy stays there. Joyce also thanks the pastoral staff and congregation of the Greenfield Baptist Church for their months of dedicated prayer and support during the time of his illness. Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 440-2999. Honoured Provider of Dignity Memorial.
