ANDERSON, Harold "Swede" John April 6, 1920 - October 19, 2008 On Sunday, October 19, 2008, as the day was just beginning, Harold Swede John Anderson of Mayerthorpe passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years. Harold will always be loved and remembered by his wife and best friend of the last 61 years, Mildred; his children, Dianne (Edward) Wilchak of Sherwood Park, Lorraine (Ashley) Bevan of Kelowna, BC, and Garry (Darlene) of Mayerthorpe; grandchildren, Jacalyn (Derek) Stankey of Sherwood Park, Sean (Maria) Bevan, and Shauna-Lynne (Andrew) Ferguson, all of Vancouver, BC; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaitlyn, James, Lachlan, and Eleanor; brothers and sisters, Edith Letendre, Vandla Frank, Conrad (Carrie), Edwin, and Janet Ross; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends. Predeceased by his parents, John and Anna; and brothers, Arthur and Albert. Swede was a long time resident of Mayerthorpe/Sangudo. He was a doer, being a founding Brother of the Sangudo Elk's Lodge. Swede was a self-appointed ambassador for the area, always welcoming people with a friendly hello and a story. He grew, and ate, the first vegetable crop in town, yearly. Swede will not be forgotten. R.I.P. A Celebration of Harold's Life will be held on Thursday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mayerthorpe Community Legion, Mayerthorpe, AB. A Private Family interment will take place in the South Park Cemetery, Sangudo, AB. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Mayerthorpe Arena Rebuilding Program, c/o Box 420, Mayerthorpe, AB T0E 1N0.
