Helen V. Smith (nee Monahan) of Yonkers died on Friday, September 21, 2001 at age 76. Born on March 1, 1925 to Andrew and Helen (Christopher) Monahan in Yonkers where she was raised and educated. On July 20, 1969 she married Earl Smith in St. Joseph's Church in Yonkers. He survives. Helen was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Peterson whom she married August 21, 1948 in Sacred Heart Church, he died in April of 1962. Mrs. Smith is survived by her three children, Mrs. Raymond (Peggy) Dugan, Martin and Charles Peterson. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Raymond, Martin, Beth Ann, Jaime, Kerry, Carly, Jay and Brian and her two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Ryan. She was predeceased by her two sisters Mary Nappi and Virginia Pilholski. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave. on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
