MEDDYBEMPS - Granville Franklin Lee "Doc" died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at a Bangor hospital after short illness. Granville was born Feb. 6, 1937, in DeWolfe, New Brunswick, son of the late James and Juna (Cook) Lee. He worked for Thomas DiCenzo, Lane Co. and Trucker Inc. as timekeeper. Granville was a junior Odd Fellow of Calais and later Odd Fellow of Woodland. He belonged to the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Calais, was past master of Cathance Grange and past master of Washington Pomona, as well as a member of Meddybemps Christian Association. Granville married Louise Day of Cooper, May 4, 1963. He was predeceased by his father and mother, James and Juna (Cook) Lee; and his brother, James Lee. Surviving are his wife, Louise; one sister, Shirley Kile; brother-in-law, Dave Kile; daughter, Nellie-Jo Lee; son, Granville "Robbie" Lee; daughter-in-law, April Lee; grandchildren, Heather and Derek Townsend, James and Josey Lee, William and Paige Fitch; also a special cousin, who was like a sister, Thelma Mundie; and special friend, like a brother, John Nixon. Granville loved brook fishing and taught his son and all his grandchildren to fish, along with Tony Wheelock. His children and grandchildren were the most important thing in his life. All his friends and relations will miss him. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Meddybemps Community Center. In lieu of flowers, donations in Granville's memory may be made to Meddybemps Christian Association, care of Liz Trouant, 120 Connont Hill, Meddybemps, ME 04657.
