Avis de décès de Grace Mason

SHOWALTER, Grace 2008-04-21 Grace Isabelle Showalter (Mason) passed away peacefully in her sleep at St. Joseph‘s Hospital in Thunder Bay on Saturday, April 19th, 2008 in her 95th year. Grace lived most of her adult life in Nestor Falls, Ontario. While working at Green‘s Camp, she met Ralph Showalter. They were married on May 20, 1936 and enjoyed 55 years together until Ralph‘s death. As newlyweds, Grace and Ralph worked a trapline together. Later, they owned a live bait shop and continued to work together, catching and selling minnows. their next venture was to purchase Northwestern Flying Services with Ralph managed while Grace acted as receptionist and bookkeeper. Grace enjoyed her home on Lake of the Woods, her garden, her church, the great outdoors and time spent with family. She loved to go fishing, partridge hunting and especially blueberry picking, always looking for that perfect patch. She will always be remembered for her great fried walleye and blueberry pie. In 2004, Grace moved to Thunder Bay to make her home with her daughter, Bev Cadene, although Nestor Falls would always be “home”. She continued to enjoy her walks, gardening and berry picking. Just last summer she went canoeing and fishing (and caught and reeled in her limit). She also became an avid reader and enjoyed lively discussions as an honorary member of Bev‘s book club. Grace’s immediate family include her three daughters, Patricia Paulson (Brian) and Beverley Cadene of Thunder Bay and Donna Hall (Bob) of Sweet Corners, Ontario; grandchildren Ralph, Warren (Carol) and Leanne Paulson; Marcie and David (Melissa) Hall, Krista (Mark) Jefferson; Rene (Debbie) and Morgan (Robin) Cadene; great grandchildren Shawn Seagris, Gregory Lynch, Lucas, Dawson and Brady Paulson, Kirsten, Hannah and Cohen Hall, Madison and Eden Jefferson. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Judson, sister-in-law Hazel Pietla, brother-in-law Manley Showalter (Josephine) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Grace’s life will be held on Thursday, April 24th, 4 p.m. at Nestor Falls United Church with Reverend Peggy Mason officiating. Memories and mementos will be shared by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In memoriam donations may be made the C.N.I.B., 229 Camelot St., Thunder Bay or to the Nestor Falls United Church, Nestor Falls, ON, P0X 1K0.
