WALTON, Gordon Stanley - We, his family, consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have had such a wonderful father, loving husband and adoring grandfather and it is with great sadness that we announce his peaceful passing on January 25, 2012. He lifted weights until very recently and that, coupled with his genial nature, dry wit and iron constitution are some of the reasons why he almost made it to his 94th birthday. A child of the depression who grew up in rural Truro, Nova Scotia, he was grateful for everything he had, lived a modest life, never complained even about the ravages of old age and offered unconditional love to his family. He is survived and sorely missed by his beloved wife Norene, his children Ron and Wendy, of whom he was obviously proud, their spouses Norma and Stef and his grandchildren Ryan, Aaron, Kieron, Conor and Shannon to whom he was their doting Pa-Pa. If a measure of a man is a healthy, contented and long life surrounded by a close family then this was a life well lived. Dad was laid to rest in our family burial plot at York Cemetery.
