Gloria Marjorie Smith, age 85, died in the early morning of April 28, 2010. She was born June 13, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of Louis and Rebecca Solo. Surviving are daughters Betsy Smith Anderson, of Raleigh, N.C., Rande Ellen Smith and husband Richard, of Raleigh, and Cathie Ann Skeletsky and husband Mark, of Newton. Grandson's David B. Smith and wife Kylia, of Bloomington, Ind., William L. Smith, of Raleigh, Geoffrey D. Smith, of Raleigh, and Peter R. Cooling, of Raleigh. Granddaughters Katherine ONeal and husband Reilly, Jessica G. Cooling, of Raleigh, and Danielle McClure and husband Matthew, of Boston. Great grand daughters, Katherine Price O'Neal, of Raleigh, and Reese Madeline McClure, of Boston. Brothers Robert Solo, of Michigan, Stanley Solo, of Philadelphia, Pa. and Richard Solo, of Philadelphia. Gloria was a loving mother and caring and wonderful, Grandmother. She attended the Abington Friends School in Philadelphia, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. After college she attended the Toby Cobern School of Design and worked for Lord & Taylor in New York City. Gloria moved to Boston in 1947 when she married Richard Smith, had her family, and lived there for years until moving to Raleigh in 1998 to be closer to family. Gloria was a warm, outgoing person who loved to laugh. She made many good friends and she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
