HENDERSON, Glenn Dixon Born 28 February 1917 in Nashville, TN. Died 4 January 2009. Preceded in death by parents, Ceacy (Doolin) and J.B. Henderson, Sr.; wife of 64 years, Alice Lewis Henderson; son, Fred Lewis Henderson and brother, Bruce Doolin Henderson (Bess). He is survived by son, Glenn D. Henderson, Jr. (Donna), Louisville, KY; brother, J.B. Henderson, Jr. (Bonnie) of Pleasantview, TN and sister, Ceacy (Charles Edward) Hailey; grandchildren, Susan M. Henderson of Thornton, CO and Todd L. Henderson (Megan) of Fort Collins, CO. Mr. Henderson graduated from Peabody Demonstration School, attended the University of Virginia and graduated from Vanderbilt University, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Following his graduation and marriage in 1940, he began his career with the Bell Telephone Company in Nashville, TN. He subsequently held positions in Georgia, New York and Louisiana, including those of General Personnel Manager, Traffic Staff Operations Manager, Assistant Vice-President and General Commercial Manager. From 1944 through the end of WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunnery Officer aboard the Aircraft Carrier, U.S.S. Lake Champlain. Active in civic affairs, he was an Executive Board Member of the New Orleans Area Council, and National Council, Representative of the Boy Scouts of America, member of the Chamber of Commerce of the New Orleans Area, Executive Board Member and past President - Louisiana State Chamber of Commerce, Executive Board Member and past Campaign Chairman - Cultural Attraction Fund, Chairman of the Greater New Orleans United Way Fund campaign, Board Member - Kiwanis Club of New Orleans, Vice President and Board Member and finance Committee Chairman - Southeastern Louisiana Girl Scout Council, Board Member - Goodwill Industries, Louisiana State Chairman of the United Services Organization and past President on the board of Trustees for the First Baptist Church of New Orleans. Mr. Henderson was an outdoor sportsman, pilot, loved Civil War History and enjoyed tennis and golf. He was a long time member of the Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville, LA, The New Orleans Country Club, and Belle Meade Country Club. Alice and "Dick" moved back to Nashville in 1994 where he has resided at Richland Place for over 14 years. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 222 Belle Meade Blvd. Funeral Services will be at the church at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 followed by a private committal service in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Alliance for the Mentally Ill-Louisiana, P.O. Box 40517, Baton Rouge, LA 70835; or The Fred J.
