Glenda R. (Caswell) Gardnerof Fitchburg; formerly of Leominster; 93 FITCHBURG -- Glenda R. (Caswell) Gardner, 93, of Fitchburg passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Sterling Village.Glenda was born in Leominster on July 22, 1919, a daughter of the late George H. and Lena G. (Carswell) Caswell. She was a 1938 graduate of Leominster High School, and went into training at the convalescent home in Wellesley, which was part of Children's Hospital in Boston. She graduated in 1940 as a Governess, working in Newton, MA.In March of 1941, Glenda married Donald Gardner and together they started their family. In her spare time, she enjoyed dancing, knitting, needlepoint, sewing, playing cards, and watching the Leominster High School football games with her husband. Until her retirement, she worked in Leominster as a friendly sales clerk for Allen's Department Store. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.She leaves her children, Dean Jeffrey Gardner and his wife Mary of Naples, FL, Joyce (Gardner) Maki and her husband Bruce of Fitchburg, and Lawrence Caswell Gardner and his wife Donna (Brown) of Sterling; grandchildren, Kristi, Becky, Dean, Donnie, Lucas, Micah, Chad; 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; extended family; Lori (Bissonnette) Gaetz, Ken Gaetz, Jr., Joyce Alsdorf and husband Christopher, Jacquelyn Favreau and husband James; and their children.Glenda was predeceased by her siblings, Richard Caswell, Lowell Caswell, Dorothy Dorons, and Barbara Wilkinson.GARDNER -- The funeral will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 12:00 Noon. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 11:00 AM -12:00 Noon. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
