Gladys May Greenway Turner, 86, of 295 E. Pearl Street, died January 1, 2009, at Regional Hospice Home. She was the widow of William C. "Bill" Turner. A native of Baldwin, Ga., she was a daughter of the late John and Martha Burrell Greenway, a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a homemaker. Surviving are two sons, Carroll Turner (Pam) of Greer and Phillip Turner (Betty) of Duncan; two daughters, Rita Chapman (fiance, Danny) of Thomasville, N.C., and Joyce Blackwell (Larry) of Wellford; one brother, Marvin Greenway of York; two sisters, Ruth Howard of Spartanburg and Jean Polson of Greer; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, William Gary Turner; a brother, John "Bud" Greenway, Jr.; and a sister, Pauline Greenway.Special thanks to the staff of Tower 6 at Mary Black Hospital and the staff of the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at the Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by the Rev. William Adams and the Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Carroll Turner, Phillip Turner, Randy Burton, Michael Lester, Levi Turner, Larry Blackwell, Jr. and Kyle Blackwell. The family is at the home of a daughter, Joyce Blackwell, 118 Wellington Road, Wellford, SC 29385. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
