Gladys Murray Hall of BinghamtonGladys was born September 21, 1923 and died February 14, 2002 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Marion and St. Clair (Chic) Murray and her husband of 51 years, Charles Babcock Hall. She is survived by her son, Charles B. Hall Jr., and his wife Melanie A. Hall; and her beloved cats, Susie and Sox. Also surviving is her brother-in-law Edwin Arthur Hall and his family; and nephews, James and John Callard and their families. She attended Binghamton Schools, received a BA in Economics from Connecticut College for Women, and a Masters Degree in Education from SUNY Binghamton. She taught in the Business Dept. of Binghamton District High Schools from 1966 to 1984. Her interest in education lead her to become a Docent at Roberson's House of Science and later at the Phelps Mansion. She is on the Board of the Monday Afternoon Club and co-chairman of the Education Committee. As a member of the Junior League of Binghamton she received the Watrous Bowl Volunteer Award. She was on the Board of Directors of Lyceum and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Binghamton's First Presbyterian Church. Gladys' other interests were golfing, gardening, playing bridge, her pets and saving the environment. The ethics she learned in Girl Scouting had a profound influence on her and she will be truly missed by her many friends. A Service of Celebration will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 42 Chenango St., Binghamton, N.Y. Revs. Mitchell and Susan Trigger will officiate. Burial will be private in Spring Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church parlor Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lourdes Hospice Program, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905, the Animal Care Council, 131 Washington Ave., Endicott, N.Y. 13760 or the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home, Inc., 71 Main St., Binghamton.
