LINCOLN - Gladys Mary "Scottie" Libby, 84, wife of the late Clyde Rodney Libby, was called home to be with the Lord Dec. 7, 2011, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born May 8, 1927, in Kingman, daughter of Winfield and Vida-Ella (McAlpine) Scott. She grew up in Springfield and graduated as valedictorian of her class. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she married Rod, in 1946, and lived the rest of her life in Lincoln, and they had two daughters, Jan and Mary. She was a full-time mom for many years and served as a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family and friends, and enjoyed reading and playing cards. When her children were grown, she worked at Lincoln Memorial Library, sharing her love of reading, until her retirement. She and Rod continued to enjoy camping and long rides on the "back roads," and she was always there to "spoil" each of her grandchildren as they needed. Although her vision became increasingly impaired due to her diabetic complications, Scottie thoroughly enjoyed her phone visits with her extended family and her friends, and was always happy to have someone drop by to say hello. She was a member of Lincoln Congregational Church, Pilgrim Daughters and Friends of the Library. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by siblings, Arnold Scott, Donald Scott, Edna Drohan, Ethel Worster and Tina Budge. She will be remembered by her children, Jan and Herbert Moulton, and Mary and Jim Haslam; grandchildren, Mick and his fiancee, Emma, Alex, Randy and Billy Moulton, Darius and Patricia Jonason, and Jessica and Justin Smith; great-grandchildren, Oliver Jonason, and Hailie, Scott, Ava and Sofia Smith; brother-in-law, Ken Budge; sister-in-law, Hildred Scott; niece, Inez McLaughlin, who helped her be able to stay in her own home after her husband's death; many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, many friends; and a special friend of the family, Norman Ham. At her request, there will be no visiting hours or service at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to either Lincoln Congregational Church or Friends of the Lincoln Memorial Library or to the ;(function() { var adKeyValue = 't='; adKeyValue+= escape('clio=COYCAHA'); adKeyValue += escape('&cobrand=bdnmaine'); adKeyValue += escape('&linktext=charity of one\'s choice'); adKeyValue += escape('&linkurl=http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/bdnmaine/condolences-charities.aspx?keyword=coycaha&pid=154952041'); adKeyValue += escape('&fn=Gladys'); adKeyValue += escape('&ln=Libby'); var adClkUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/jump?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=1655714094'; var adImpUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ad?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=1655714094'; document.write("<a href='" + adClkUrl + "' target=_blank>charity of one\'s choice<" + 'img' + " src='" + adImpUrl + "' style='width=1px; height=1px; display:inline;' /></a>"); }());.
