->NORRIDGEWOCK -- Gladys J. Jackson, 95, went to be with the Lord, Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan.She was born March 3, 1914, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of John and Marion D. (Klokkadhl) Ballard. Gladys was educated in schools in Ft. Fairfield and graduated from Ft. Fairfield High School. At age 17 Gladys moved with her family from the Ft. Fairfield area to Norridgewock.She met Howard M. Jackson and they were married Aug. 29, 1934, in Norridgewock.Gladys was very active in the community. She worked many years as a cook at the Central Grade School in Norridgewock. She was a longtime member of the Norridgewock Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Baptist Church choir and a member of the Philathia. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Rebekahs, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Village Improvement Committee in Norridgewock; she also was very active in the Republican Party. In recent years she was a member of the First Congregational Church of Norridgewock.Gladys was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Howard M. Jackson; and three sisters, Velma Chapman, Emily Brooks and Edna Morton.She is survived by her children, John Jackson and his wife, Joanne, of Bucksport, Donald Jackson and his wife, Paula, of Dawson, Ala., Emily "Emma" Rabens and her husband, Robert, of Jasper, Tenn., Virginia "Ginger" Smith and her husband, Arthur, of Norridgewock, and Neil Jackson and his wife, Brenda, of Jasper, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, several great- and great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at the First Congregational Church in Norridgewock, with the Rev. Linda A. Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Cemetery in Norridgewock.Cremation and service arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison. 6916507
