Gladys Jackson, née en 1923, fille de Herb et Dagny, est décédée le 25 décembre 2013.
Gladys Jackson May 28, 1923 - December 25, 2013 "Glady" nee Thompson (Mom, Grandma, GG) passed away peacefully on December 25th, her favourite day of the year. Mom's warm and loving spirit shone especially bright at Christmas time. Her gingerbread houses, decorated by successions of children, were legendary and Breakfast with Santa with her kids, nieces, nephews, grandkids and half the neighborhood was a must. Daughter of Herb and Dagny Thompson, some of Mom's fondest memories were of growing up in Saskatchewan with her numerous siblings and cousins. She attended school in Jasmine, Sask., and briefly in Port Arthur, Ont., before moving to North Van, finishing school at North Van High. The Thompson house "299" became the centre of her extended family. She met Les Jackson during the war and they wed on September 26, 1945 settling in his hometown of Winnipeg, Mb. In 1954, Dad transferred to North Van with the CBC so Mom could be close to her beloved family. Married for 53 years, Dad passed away in 1998. Mom went on to support and love her growing family until she was hospitalized with general complications in 2011. Survived by her sister Diane, her children, Don (Sheila), Judy (Bob), Viki (Jay), Debbie (Roland) and Ross, her grandchildren Blair, James, Nolan, Neal, Devon and Keiana, and great grandchildren Austin, Keely, Alex, Zachary and Sienna, predeceased by bothers Ivan, Floyd, Ken, Howie, Stewart and sister Norma. Mom will remain in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen House for their loving care and a very special thank you to our dear cousin Darlene for her dedication and love for Mom. A celebration of Mom's life will be held in the spring.
