March 12, 2003 Gladys Barker Cook, 84, died Wednesday, March 12th in Syracuse, NY. A resident of Rahway, New Jersey for over 50 years, she was born in West Orange, New Jersey. She had recently moved to Liverpool, NY . Mrs. Cook served as a Na-vy WAVE during WWII and she was a member of Jersey Shore Chapter #68 of the WAVES National/Women of the Sea Services. She served for many years as a Volunteer at Rahway Memorial Hospital after her retirement from Abraham and Strauss in Woodbridge, NJ. Mrs. Cook was a communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Rahway, NJ. Her husband of 44 years, Eugene E. Cook and her sisters, Alice Jane Barker and Lillian Jarvis preceded Mrs. Cook in death. She is survived by her brother John Henry Barker of Sun City, Arizona, two children; a daughter Barbara Davis of Silver Spring, Maryland and a son Donald Cook of 3963 Pawnee Dr. Liverpool, NY, four grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews in the United States and Scotland. A memorial service will be held in May for family and friends at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Irving St. Rahway, NJ. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the church.
