Mrs. Gladys Annie Jane Cook, 94, of Panama City, Fla., went to be with her Lord on Monday, March 3, 2008. Mrs. Cook was born and raised in Chipley, Fla., and came to Panama City in 1956 with her husband, Charles "Charlie" Ellis Cook. She was a devoted mother and a kind and gentle soul who was a faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and the Lydia Sunday school class. She will be deeply missed by her family and all the people she touched through the years. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Cook; and two sons, Eugene Cook and Henry Cook. She is survived by a son, William Floyd Cook and wife, Carol; three daughters, Lora Todd and husband, Bill, Martha Delores Cox and friend, Woody Jones, and Janis Sanders and husband, Freddie, all of Panama City; a grandson she raised, Byce Cook and wife, Vickii, of Atlanta; 15 additional grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 2608 E. 15th St., Panama City, with the Rev. Charles Key officiating. There will be a viewing for one hour prior to funeral services at the church. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, 1976 Shiloh Lane, Chipley, Fla. Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Cook's grandsons. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today, March 5, 2008, at Heritage Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home of Janis and Freddie Sanders. A special thank you to all the personnel at Lisenby Nursing Home and Covenant Hospice for all the loving care and compassion shown during the time she resided at home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 W. 19th St., Panama City, FL 32405; or to the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Gladys Cook.
