Gertrude M. Mongrain, 87, Palmetto, died July 18, 2003. She was born April 21, 1916, in Milldale, Conn., and came to Manatee County in 1984 from Southington, Conn. She retired as a secretary for Plantsville Congregational Church in Plantsville, Conn. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bradenton. Survivors include a son, Bruce of Jessup, Md.; a sister, Geraldine Von Daack of Southington, Conn.; and a brother, Earl Hotchkiss of Meriden, Conn. The memorial service will be later in Connecticut. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Southington. National Cremation Society, Sarasota chapter, is in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 1204 14th St. W., Bradenton, FL 34205; or First Presbyterian Church, 1402 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, FL 34205.
