Germaine-T. Mathieu, née en 1916, conjointe de Laurier Surprenant, fille de Leopold Mathieu et Lea, est décédée le 11 avril 2005 à l'âge de 89 ans.
NEW BEDFORD -- Germaine T. (Mathieu) Surprenant-Pepin, 89, of Acushnet died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Sacred Heart Home after a long illness. She was the widow of Laurier Surprenant and the wife of Omer J. Pepin; they were married seven years. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Leopold Mathieu and Lea (Demanche) Mathieu. She lived in New Bedford most of her life, then resided in Lakeville; she lived in Acushnet seven years. She graduated from New Bedford High School. She was a communicant of St. John Neumann Church in Freetown. She formerly worked for the New Bedford Housing Authority and previously as a waitress at Gaudette's in Acushnet for many years. Mrs. Surprenant-Pepin liked to travel, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include her widower; a son, deacon and attorney Robert L. Surprenant and his wife, Diane, of Mattapoisett; a brother, Paul Mathieu of Lakeville; a sister, Jacqueline Duclos of Lakeville; nine stepchildren; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Claire Landreville, Normand Mathieu and Simone Dionne. Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Neumann Church; burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery will follow. Arrangements are by Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd.
