DOVER – Geraldine Thurston Smith, 78, died Thursday April 3, 2014 at the Rochester Manor after a long illness.Born in Rumney, N.H. December 5, 1935 the daughter of Clifton and Helen (Emery) Avery. She was a 1953 graduate of Nute High School and a former resident of Farmington and Holiday, Fla., prior to moving here over 25 years ago.She was a life member of the DAV Auxiliary of Farmington and a member of TOPS.She is survived by her husband Charles R. Smith, three daughters Wendy Thurston, Jacksonville, Fla., Lori Thurston of Colorado, Brenda & Dan Bourgeois of Rochester, four sons Milton Thurston of Rochester, Don & Jean Thurston of Rochester, Anthony & Patty Thurston of Missouri and David & Tammy Thurston of New Durham. She also leaves one stepson, Charles & Sue Smith of Gilmanton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one sister, Lynn Sullivan, one brother Gordon Avery of California; and nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her grandson, Donald George Thurston, her siblings, Dean Swan, Bernard Swan, Sheldon Avery, Percival Avery, and Virgina Estalet, and a stepson, Richard Smith.The family would like to thank the staff of the Rochester Manor for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Geraldine and her family.Friends are invited to call Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover.Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home.
