Geraldine-Barnes Smith, née en 1919, conjointe de Lloyd-Basel-Smith October, fille de Roy et Frona-Long, mère de Kaye Smith et Gary, est décédée le 26 novembre 1919.
Geraldine Barnes Smith, daughter of Roy Raymond and Frona Long Barnes, was born November 26, 1919 in Emerson, Mills County, Iowa and departed this life August 9, 2009, following multiple complications from a hip fracture January 18, 2009. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Basel Smith October 1, 1949. One daughter was born to this union. They lived on a farm northwest of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, until Lloyd's death January 30, 1996. A few years later, Geraldine moved to Springfield, Missouri to be near her daughter and was blessed to be able to live in the home next door to her daughter. She had worked at Security Bank, Shannon & Shannon Insurance, Dryer's Shoe Store and retired from Home Building & Loan (now First Home Savings Bank) in Mtn. Grove. She was a member of Rock Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and attended there and Mtn. Valley Freewill Baptist Church. After her move to Springfield, and as her health allowed she attended Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Fair Grove, Mo. Geraldine embraced every turn in life with a courage and a smile admired by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She had an amazing faith and a love and appreciation for every season and for each one of God's creations no matter how small. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Verne Barnes. She is survived by her daughter, Kaye Smith Garrison and her husband, Gary; two sisters, Lois Lefler and Faye McGowan and her husband Willard; one brother-in-law, Floyd "Pod" Owens and one sister-in-law, Fern Moore and her husband, Shirley; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who had the privilege to meet her and love her. Services will be held on August 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery, Mtn. Grove, Mo. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Greenlawn East Chapel. The family suggest memorial donations be made to the donor's choice.
