Gerald E. Desroches, 73, of Blandford, died on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Wingate at West Springfield. He was a retired pipe fitter and welder at Savage Arms Corp. in Westfield. Gerald also worked in the maintenance department at Monarch Life Insurance Co and for customer service at the Mass Turnpike Service Plaza. Gerald was born on July 4, 1941 in Chicopee and was the son of the late Rene and Anna (Bardon) Desroches. He was a Ham Radio operator; his call sign was WB1CPD and he loved hunting and fishing. Gerald is survived by his wife of fifty years, Julia M. (Zajaczkowski) Desroches and two brothers, Rene and Richard Desroches. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11 am at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee. There are no calling hours.
