She was a native of Callahan, FL, having resided in Jacksonville most of her life. She was a graduate of Old Stanton Sr. High School, Class of 1948. Furthering her education, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, FL. Mrs. Sheffield-Williams was a member of District #1 at Philadelphia Baptist Church. As one of Duval County's Outstanding Educators, Mrs. Sheffield-Williams was employed with the Duval County School Board, retiring after rendering over 30 years of dedicated service. Other affiliations include member of the Beta Alpha Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Mrs. Sheffield-Williams was predeceased by her parents, Cornelius Vernon and Ella Moore; and father of her children, Manior Sheffield. Survivors include her children, Darryl, Darnell (Josephine) and Danny Sheffield; three grandchildren, Jamal, Darnesha and Darnell Sheffield; brother, William Moore (Marilyn); sister, Mrs. Bessie Haynes; her nephews whom she referred to as her "other sons" include, Reggie (Yvonne), Bruce (Sandra), Rodney (Brenda) Moore and Henry Colsen; her "other brother", Melvin Moore; and a number of other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Rev. Johnny Johnson, Pastor. Mrs. Sheffield will rest in the Master's Touch Ministries, 4510 Soutel Dr., for visitation TODAY from 5 PM until 8 PM (where the family will receive friends at 5PM) and at Philadelphia Baptist Church SATURDAY from 9 AM until the hour of service. Interment will be in Callahan Cemetery, Callahan, FL. Friends are asked to assemble at the church under the direction of ALPHONSO WEST MORTUARY, INC., 4409 Soutel Dr., 904-766-9671.
