George Stirling Angus April 22, 1926 - January 1, 2013 George passed away peacefully in the presence of family on New Year's Day at the age of 86. George was predeceased by his wife Thelma in 1999. He is survived by his companion Margaret Vidal, daughter Patricia Merritt (Brad), son Stirling Angus (Christina), grandchildren Alyana and Emara Angus; Sam and Sophia Merritt. George immigrated to Canada from Dumbarton, Scotland in 1954. Dad never quite lost his Scottish accent. Some might even say he worked at maintaining it! His family and friends will remember him fondly. A long time resident of Delta, George was a member of the Delta Police Force from 1959 to 1987, retiring as chief constable. He served for many years on the board of the Envision (Delta) Credit Union. Throughout his life George gave back to the community through his participation and service in professional associations, Kinsmen, St. John Ambulance and various community groups. He was one of the original supporters of the Delta Police Pipe Band. Right to the end, George made friends wherever he went. Our family sincerely thanks all his friends for the pleasure they have given him throughout his life. We would also like to thank his caregivers at the Waterford in Tsawwassen, for the kindness and friendship they gave to our father, while in their care.A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 11th, 2013 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at the Ladner Community Centre at 4734 - 51st Street, Delta, BCPlease consider a donation to the Delta Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice.
