George P. Hellerman Sr., 74, passed away April 16, 2013, at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, N.J., just two days shy of his 75th birthday. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, April 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook, N.J. A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at the Presbyterian Church, Bound Brook. Mr. Hellerman was a research chemist for 42 years at Union Carbide Corporation, (now Dow Chemical), Bound Brook, before retiring in 2002. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Cynthia Lee (Erickson); his sons, George Paul Jr. of North Plainfield, N.J., and Erik Lee (Erika) of Nashville, Tenn.; his cousin, Evelyn Herrmann O'Mara; nephews, Carl Erickson III and Matthew Erickson; and great-nephew, Andrew Carl Erickson. Memorial donations may be made to a nature preservation organization of your choice.
