November 12, 1931 ~ April 14, 2011George Morley MacKenzie passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 79, in Port Alberni, after a long and courageous battle with COPD.Survived by his loving wife Leone; daughter Rhonda and her husband Martin van Adrichem; grandsons, Dustin, Jared and Zachary van Adrichem all of Port Alberni, as well as; brother Gus MacKenzie and sisters; Glenda, Karen, Nancy, and Laurie all of whom reside in Ontario.Morley was born in Sault St. Marie, Ontario and eventually moved west where he met Leone and the two finally settled in Port Alberni in 1974. Shortly afterwards, they welcomed their only child Rhonda, who was the apple of Morley's eye.A quiet man, family was the focus of his life. He adored his grandchildren, with whom he enjoyed many walks, talks and card games with. He was the best father and Grandpa anyone could ever ask for and he will be deeply missed by everyone.As per Morley's wishes, a private family gathering will be taking place. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Morley may be sent to the Pacific Lung Health Centre Research, 1081 Burrard St. Vancouver, BC., V6Z 1Y6The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to: the wonderful paramedics that came to help Morley in his many trips to the hospital over the years; Dr. Morris, Dr. DeWitt and Dr.O'Dyre for the great care provided; and to the outstanding nursing staff of the West Coast General Hospital for always being gentle, kind and comforting in Morley's weeks with them. The level of care and compassion given to Morley during his stay was "…second to none…" Go, Canucks, Go!!
