ROME >> George Michael Anderson of Rome, N.Y. passed away on January 23, 2015 after a long illness. Born May 8, 1949 he was the son of George F. and Barbara (Mott) Anderson. He was a graduate of VVS Central School class of 1967. He married his best friend Nora "Dee" Wagner on Dec. 18, 1991.He was a phlebotomist for a number of years; then changed careers and became a bartender at the Lamplighter Lounge located in Hotel Utica. He retired in 2003 due to ill health.He loved the outdoors, taking drives, and spending time with his family. He was an accomplished photographer and diehard Buffalo Bills and Syracuse Orange fan. He also adored his cats and they adored him.Michael was a true "gentle" man and will be deeply missed.His is survived by his devoted wife Dee; his cherished children Tom, John, Judy and Scott; his mother Barbara Anderson; six grandchildren; and seven sisters. He was predeceased by his father.The family would like to thank the EMS responder and the staff at St. Elizabeth's for their compassion and unwavering concern for Michael and his family. Heartfelt thanks to neighbors, Linda and Lischa Dishman for being such caring and gentle friends.Per Michael's wishes there will be no service or calling hours.Donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Jervis Public Library 613 N.
