George Goodwin December 25, 2009 George Goodwin (born July 4, 1917) passed on Christmas Day. Healthy and hearty to the last moment of his 92 years, he led a full and varied life. From a farm boy in Athens, Ohio, born of Henry Augustine and Carrie Artis Augustine, he attended Ohio University and Ohio State College. His careers spanned bakery owner and manager for Nabisco, regional manager for Brunswick Corporation, and owner of Sequin's Motel in Wampsville and Indian River Lodge in Philadelphia, NY. He was also an antique dealer and refinisher. His hobbies included playing the guitar and songwriting, blue grass fiddler get-together, gardening, and, in his last years, writing, as he published his memoirs George's Tales of Yesteryear and a novel, The Boy Asks and the Lake Replied. He was predeceased by his first wife of 20 years, Jane May Goodwin; his second wife of 40 years, Marion Lucille Sharpe; and his daughter, Dana Goodwin Magil. He is survived by his sister, Ina Delle Vincent; six nieces and nephews; his three daughters, Lisa Brothwell (Charles), Carol Dennis (Carl) and Sherry Smith (Wally). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Merritt and Sarah Brothwell, Gretchen Smith and John Schopper, Terry Phillips (Theresa), Kensie Monroe (Kevin), Kimberly Cooper (Kirk), Christine LaFleur (Kevin), Thomas Ashley (Tammy) and Nicole Gladding; as well as 18 great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, December 30, at 1 p.m. in the community room at Limestone Garden Senior Apartments, 7626 Highbridge Rd., Manlius.
