GEORGE EUGENE "GENE" LAROQUE, 82, of Sanford, and formerly of Shelby Township, died early Thursday morning, October 27, 2005 at the MidMichigan Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 11, 1922 in Clawson, son of the late Theodore and Hattie (Stacey) Laroque. He served his country in the Armed Forces and was a lifetime member of the Centerline VFW Post #6757. He married the former Doris Nielsen on February 5, 1949 in IN and was a General Motors retiree. Gene was an avid NASCAR and Golf fan and had enjoyed hunting. Surviving in addition to his wife Doris of 55 years is his son Jon Alan Laroque of FL; granddaughters, Jessica and Deidra Laroque; brother Ted Laroque, sister, Esther Southlander and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, one son George Eric Laroque predeceased. Cremation has taken place and NO SERVICES WILL TAKE PLACE. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital or the VFW Children's Home in Eaton Rapids.
