Miller, George ElwoodGeorge Elwood Miller, age 80, died peacefully Tuesday, May 15 in the comforting care of the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City, New York. George was born in Owosso, Michigan, July 24, 1931. He attended Alma College in Michigan and served in Korea with the US Army from 1953-1955. George, a resident of West Nyack for 43 years, had worked at CBS Television News and Sports for almost 40 years before retiring in 1995. He was the production supervisor for many sporting events such as the US Tennis Open Series, the Talladega 500, the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta and the Baseball World Series in Pittsburgh. He was an avid photographer who loved music, reading, the theatre, travelling, woodworking especially marquetry, and spending time with his family. George is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Ryan) Miller; daughter, Debbie Strelevitz and her 6 children, Kathryn, Heather, Tara, Matthew, Angela and Shavonne; daughter, Becky and her husband Don Toto and their children, Kylie and Ryan; sisters, Mildred Chase Hayden and Marilyn Spitz; nephews, Jack Chase, Tim Chase and David Chase and niece, Pamela Spitz Kloth and their families.A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in George's name may be made to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956 or the Wounded Warriors Project, c/o Rockland County Veterans Office, 20 Squadron Boulevard, New City, NY 10956.
