George Edward O'Connor Sr., 84, of West Orange, N.J., passed away at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, N.J., on Saturday April 5, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St., West Orange, at 9 a.m., then to Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 44 Benvenue Ave., for the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave. in East Hanover, N.J. Visiting will be on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerfuneralhome.com. George was born and raised in Orange, N.J., raising his family in West Orange before retiring in Toms River, N.J. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, and the United Nations Service Medal. George was a bus driver working for DeCamp Bus Company for many years. He then worked for the Operating Engineers Local 68. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley Church, and more recently a daily communicant of Saint John's Church in Lakewood, N.J. George was the beloved husband of the late Jane (nee O'Toole) O'Connor; devoted father of George Jr., Peggy O'Connor, Paul and his wife, Suzanne, and Michael and his wife, Janine; grandfather to Ethan, Hailey, Paige, Trinity, Hope, and Eden.
