George A. McGovern, 56, of Glen Ridge, N.J., died on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the O'Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad St., Bloomfield, on Friday at 9 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Upper Montclair. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Born in Montclair, George was a lifelong resident of Glen Ridge. He worked as a production manager for DG3 of Jersey City. George was a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Church who enjoyed summering at his home in Vermont and scuba diving in Florida and the Islands. He was the husband of Lauretta Reynolds McGovern; father of Jacob Reynolds of New York City, and Jessica Thurston and her husband, Erik, of New York; brother of Elizabeth Herskovitz and her husband, Howard, of Washington, D.C., and James and his wife, Margaret, of San Francisco; grandfather of Layne, Cole and Skylar, and uncle of Grant, Ashley and Darius.
