WATERVLIET Genevieve Kathryn Simpson, 87, died on Monday, March 1, 2004 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany. Born in Watervliet, Miss Simpson was daughter of the late James A. and Gertrude Norton Simpson. A lifelong Watervliet resident, she was educated in St. Brigid's School, Watervliet High School and the Albany Business College. Miss Simpson was employed by the Delaware and Hudson Railroad, as a secretary and retired in 1986 after 39 years of service. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Brigid's Church in Watervliet where she had volunteered her time assisting at the rectory. Miss Simpson was the sister of the late Harry F. Simpson whose wife Helen Simpson of Buffalo survives, the late Jane Davis whose husband James Davis of Malta survives. Miss Simpson was aunt of William Simpson of Amherst, N.Y., Thomas Simpson of Tonawanda, N.Y. and John Simpson of Buffalo, N.Y., Mary Jane Shave of Schenectady, Barbara Dickman of Malta, Martha Ross of Niskayuna and James Davis Jr. of Albany, N.Y. Also surviving are several grandnieces and grandnephews. Friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated in St. Brigid's Church, Watervliet on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. There are no public calling hours. Contributions may be made to St. Brigid's Church Memorial Fund, 595 Fifth Avenue, Watervliet, NY 12189 in memory of Genevieve K. Simpson.
