ObituaryGENE A. TODDGENOA - Gene A. Todd, 69, of Route 90, Genoa, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca.Gene was born February 28, 1937 in Dryden, a son of the late Damon and Mildred (Russell) Todd, and was a lifelong area resident. He had been employed in construction since 1959, and most recently worked with Northland Associates of Liverpool, retiring as a superintendent. Gene had many joys in life, among them being a NY Yankees and Giants fan, a love of country music and dancing, golfing, shuffleboard, having coffee with friends, but his family was his greatest joy. He loved the Lord and had been attending Faith Assembly of God in Aurora.He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Norma Powers Todd, his son, David W. Todd and his friend, Gayle Engle of Ithaca, his daughter, Valerie (Robert) Lovelace of Arlington, OH; four grandchildren, Andrew R. and Rochelle L. Lovelace, Ryan G. Todd, and Tawnie Benjamin; great-grandson, Dustin, great-granddaughter, Jade; five brothers, Harry (Mary) of Clintondale, Lawrence (Helen) of Moravia, Chester (Mildred) of Romulus, RobRoy "Bob" (Joyce) of Winterhaven, FL, and Clifton (Debbie) of Groton; three sisters, Virginia (Oakley) Mann of Orangeburg, SC, Bernice (David) Harris of Raleigh, NC, and Judy (Keith) Sheppard of Ocala, FL; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jim and Bernard, and his sister, June Pelkey.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 16, at the Groton Assembly of God, with the Rev. Robert L. Lovelace and Rev. Don DeMars officiating. Private burial will be in Bird Cemetery, Locke. Friends may call at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 10117 Route 90, Genoa, on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. or at the church on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Faith Assembly of God, 1286 Poplar Ridge Rd., Aurora, NY 13026, or to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
