Avis de décès de Gary Johnson

<!-- FH = Spilsbury Mortuary -->Gary JohnsonSt. GeorgeGary Fred Johnson passed away peacefully July 20, 2012 at the age of 73 in St. George, Utah. Gary was born April 22, 1939 in Salt Lake City, UT to Vera Sorena Larsen and Truman Fred Johnson. Gary was a loving, caring Husband, Son, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Friend. Gary never met a person he didn't like and never had anything bad to say about anyone. He was willing to serve and care for everyone he came in contact with. A faithful member and High Priest leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gary held many positions of service, with missionary work being his passion. He loved being around the children and grandchildren. He served as a Weblos Scout Leader at the age of 50 and never tired from the activities with the boys. At 18 years old, Gary was drafted into the United States Air Force and served in both the Vietnam and the Korean Wars as a Crew Chief. The military allowed Gary to do what he loved best and that was to be around the airplanes and shoot guns. Gary enjoyed both shooting recreationally and competition; it didn't matter what gun it was, he would shoot them all. Gary retired from the Union Pacific Railroad where he served as an Officer for 5 years and as a Roundhouse foreman in Yermo, California, but served in North Platte, Nebraska and Las Vegas, Nevada. It was in Las Vegas that he met and married Diane Marie Petersen Fields on April 22, 1989. Gary is survived by his wife Diane; brother Keith (Mary) Johnson; brother and sister-in-laws Ron and Kay Petersen and Phil and Terry Ray; son, Mark and Daniel Johnson; step-children, Dean Fields, Cori McEwen and Todd Fields; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Spring Gardens Assisted Living, 2654 E. Red Cliffs Dr., St. George, UT. Visitations will be on Friday, July 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, UT and on Saturday from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service in Spring Gardens. Interment will be in the Washington City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, St. George, UT (435) 673-2454. Family and friends are invited to sign his guest book at www.spilsburymortuary.com .
