Gary J. Hamilton 1952 - 2013 SPRINGFIELD - Gary James Hamilton, 60, of Springfield passed away on Thursday, May 9th at home. Gary was born in Springfield November 14, 1952 the son of the late Robert and Helen Hamilton. He was known as the "fix it" guy. His infamous "shed" was the neighborhood hangout where he performed his renowned feats of apparatus resurrection. He never met a discarded roadside weed whacker that he didn't want to covet and engineer back to showroom quality. His laid back casual style and blatant disregard for grammatically correct English language was infectious. He always had time for conversation even with the person at the adjacent gas pump. He was a friend to all, and any dog's best friend. He loved riding motorcycles and would like to reminisce with fellow bikers about the "fun" of near death biking experiences. To a certain police department he offers his apology. "It was me that lit off the fireworks under your vehicles: July 4th, 1969." Gary will be sadly missed by his brother Bob and nephews Alexander and Joseph, cousins, and his wonderful sisters Cheryl Rocco and Chris Santaniello. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. Forastiere Smith Funeral Home in East Longmeadow is entrusted with the arrangements.
