ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Gary E. Raymond, 59, died Aug. 14, 2011, surrounded by his family, at Venice Regional Medical Center in Venice, after a six-year courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was born on Feb. 15, 1952, in Goffstown, N.H., the son of Wilfred E. and Theresa (Dulude) Raymond. He resided in both Derry, N.H., and Englewood, Fla. Mr. Raymond retired from the Derry Fire Department as a lieutenant in December of 2000 after 26 years of dedicated service to the town of Derry. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters and The Professional Fire Fighters' Association of NH, Local 2620 and Local 3834. Gary was a devoted NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and camping. He cherished his time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Lynn (Grabowski) Raymond, who bravely walked by Gary's side everyday to fight his courageous struggle with cancer; one daughter, Erica L. Raymond, of Englewood, Fla.; one son, Gary J. Raymond, of Derry, N.H.; two grandsons, Tian and Logan of Englewood; and his brother, Mark Raymond of Derry. He also enjoyed a very close relationship with his father-in-law, Joseph E. Grabowski of Englewood, and his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. . SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, N.H. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry, N.H. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Cemetery Road, East Derry.
